What is The Devic Look?

Since I was little, I’ve had a fascination with my parent’s photo albums.

Their photo albums left me with so many questions.

Who were some of these people? What camera was this photo taken with? What film was this taken with that gave it these colors?

The albums were filled with simple photographs of happy moments. Candid but classic. Often times imperfect in it’s composition. I learned through looking at these photos that it was just as important to document the seemingly boring, yet magical everyday life as it was the obvious monumental events.

There are so many formal portraits of me standing in front of my mother’s rose garden, or group photos in front of our car.

They are simple portraits that remind me of who we were in that moment of time, what our garden looked like, which car we were driving that year.

I’m reminded of how fast time passes and how quickly things change.

Their photos always leave me with a sense of longing for something. I always wanted more, and could never get enough.

Every time I flip through them, it’s like the first time.

This is the inspiration for your photos.

I ask myself, “Which photos will you want to look through over and over again?”

You won’t be molded into an awkward pose.

This is where I derive inspiration from
the photo albums of my family, and yours.

Posing is kept to a minimum on your wedding day,
and is inspired by you as a couple.

I take a backseat for all of the candid
moments in between; making sure the focus
is on you enjoying your wedding day.

For the final touch in your photographs,
I incorporate film.

The kind of film that your parent’s used.

True photographic storytelling.

Our background in photography has showed us that trends in poses and presets come and go…

“Real” are the photographs that are found in your parent’s photo albums.

Nothing ages better than real.

These are the photographs you will
love decades from now.

Real colors; no filtered editing. Real moments.

…but photographs containing the “real” are unparalleled.

Maybe you’re still wondering who we are?

We are Dzesika and Eddie.

Devic Fotos had its origins on MySpace back in 2005 when Dzesika acquired a film camera, and decided this was what she was going to do. She started out with photographing her friends in school, family, and the water meters outside her home, and electrical sockets.

When she’s not shooting for people, she’s photographing on the street. She loves music, people, comedy, movies.

Our background in photography goes beyond weddings.

Eddie began photography in 2011. Along with street photography, he experiments in macro and astro photography.

We let you enjoy your wedding day instead of manufacturing moments.
