Why I Love This Photo

This series, “Why I Love This Photo” is where I write about the one photo that sticks out in my mind at the end of a wedding. It’s never the photo you would expect or would “do well” online, and so I’m taking this opportunity to write about why these series of photos are exciting to me.

Before the wedding day Viola & Carlos said they would love to have some formal photos with immediate family, as well as candid ones with their family and friends.

While I took lots of photos of them laughing and smiling with their family, I was still waiting for something different to line up.

Here, the groom’s father was standing outside, and his mother and sister stood inside.

The groom walked over and I just asked him and his father to turn and look toward me.

It’s the photo I was waiting for… the whole family together in one frame but aligned differently.

It’s more formal but worked within the natural movements of the people.

I couldn’t have directed a photo that resulted in something as natural and interesting.
